Singapore Aquarium Fish Exporters' Association (SAFEA) established in 1981. With the effort of our committee members, SAFEA negotiated with relevant authorities to explore the possibilities of forming an ornamental fish export centre in Singapore. Finally in 1983 the first ornamental fish exporter centre in the region or perhaps in the world was formed. It was located nearby Seletar Airport.
Since then, Singapore is very successful and well known to be a one stop shop ornamental fish provider in the region. According to trade statistic data, Singapore is the world number exporter in the world.
In 2010, Seletar Airport was planned to develop into a new aviation centre, the ornamental fish export centre was also affected. Most of the farm started to move into the new ornamental fish export centre from 2012. The new exporter centre is now located at Lorong Chencharu Link.
With this new exporter centre, the exporters heavily invested into high-tech and advance management system in their new facility. This enables the exporters to further enhance their capability to overcome the new international changing environment.
With the strong supports and suggestions from the committee members, finally SAFEA completed the new member's directory. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the members support in contributing their advertisement on this members' directory. I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a prosperity future ahead!
